about

I picked a loop I had composed late at night, when I was suffering from my usual bout of insomnia. The cello is out-of-tune, and the recording is simply a 1/4" into my loop station, and dragged out to Garageband. Layered with my own voice over.

And it's just simple, a lullaby-like feel that gives a nod to the overall sense of nostalgia that I am prone to get from time to time.

Some ponticello ghost whispers, and a little melodic contour.

San Jose these past couple year has felt like less and less of a safe space to take creative risks. Or else I feel afraid of taking risks. Like Ferlinghetti's poem, I feel like if I could fully tell my truth I'd risk absurdity.

Or else I just feel hollow right now. I'm not sure. Being a witness to oneself is terrifying.

I just want San Jose to feel like it did before. When I first moved here.

This want feels the same as when I hit adolescence and I just wanted to be a child again. Because it was easier then.

But San Jose

I love you

I love you

I love you

I love you

lyrics

Lament
by Cellista

We gazed ahead and past what was there
I saw you, a beacon of light in a crowd
We are already here
I am confessing
This is my home.
